Measuring Technology

The 1st generation BPM technology and the 2nd generation are Measurement While Deflating technology (MWD), while the 3rd generation BPM technology is Measurement While Inflating technology (MWI).

The 2nd generation technology of electronic BPM (G2-NIBPM)

Measurement technology: MWD technology

Main components used: air-pump, electronic controlled valve, air pressure sensor

Description: Use ECV to control the exhausting speed to deflate lineally.

Feature 1: The BP reading is very stable and accurate because of the very good linearity of the exhausting speed.

Feature 2: Intelligent inflation which means that BPM roughly determine the systolic pressure while inflating, then stop to deflate and measure BP; The maximum inflating pressure is about a pressure which is 30~40mmHg more that the rough systolic;

Feature 3: the exhausting speed can be normally stabilized at 4~5mmHg/s.

The 2nd generation electronic BPM uses ECV servo technology which is very difficult for most of BPM manufacturers.

Only a few compamies have been using the 2nd generation technology.

The 3rd generation technology of electronic BPM (G3-NIBPM)

Measurement technology: MWI technology

Main components used: servo air-pump, solenoid valve, air pressure sensor

Description: Inflate linearly and measure BP while inflating without ECV and mechanical valve.

Feature 1: Use servo air pump which can be controlled to inflate linearly; and measure BP while inflating;

Feature 2: Use only one solenoid valve which is used to release after the measurement finishes;

The 3rd generation electronic BPM uses Measurement While Inflating technology which is only used by Quoticare, Kingyield, Omron, Matsushita while other manufacturers are using the 1st generation technology.

The 3rd generation technology is becoming popular, and Quoticare has discarded the 1st generation technology.
